Hello and welcome to day 18 of the recipe advent calendar! We have a nice, easy biscuit today – we’re making vanillekipferl. These biscuits originated in Austria and are recognisable by their crescent shape and liberal dusting of vanilla sugar. Typically, they’re made with almonds or walnuts, but as pecans are one of my favourite nuts, I decided to use them instead and added a touch of tonka bean to bring another layer of flavour. Don’t worry if you can’t get hold of tonka beans – I’ve made these biscuits without them, and they’re still very delicious.
