This is a somewhat rogue post me, I actually hate bananas. I know, I know, bananas never did anything to hurt me and I really want to like them but I just can’t, they’re not for me. So why am I making banana cake? Good question, I’m not even sure I know the answer to this! When I started writing my caramel conundrums post I wanted to share a cake recipe that celebrated caramel, of course I could have shared a chocolate and caramel cake recipe but I have a really lovely cake coming up next week which is along those lines and you can be overwhelmed by too much chocolate (at least so I’m told) and I’ve already shared one of my all time favourite cake recipes which features caramel in a big way; my sticky toffee cake so I was left pondering, what other flavours work with caramel? Of course there are many many flavours that pair well with caramel, ginger, coffee, vanilla, pear, apple, the list goes on. Truthfully I settled on banana because I really really wanted to make something that I could decorate with some fun colours. After a week of making nothing but caramel I wanted something that I could make pretty, after all it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday (in the UK) and our mums deserve something pretty!
