After writing my post all about iconic foods in fiction I found myself longing for a Matilda-style chocolate cake, that’s to say a chocolate cake that’s so rich, chocolatey and gooey that only a true legend like Bruce Bogtrotter could finish the whole thing in one sitting.
For sometime now I’ve been contemplating my ideal chocolate cake filling, I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no such thing as one ideal filling, my chocolate mousse cake is perfect if you fancy something a bit more sophisticated, my black forest is nice if you want something fruity to cut through the richness, the list goes on, if it’s chocolate cake, no matter what the filling, it’s probably going to be a yes from me. Today’s cake is pure, unadulterated filth, chocolate sponge filled with chocolate crème pat and covered with a soft, rich chocolate ganache.
