Hello! Today I’m sacking off summer fruits in favour of a cake that can be made any time of year. I love using seasonal ingredients but a girl can only go so long without a really good chocolate cake. This cake ticks all of my chocolate cake boxes, moist ✔️, buttery ✔️, sweet and salty ✔️ and most importantly, chocolatey ✔️.
Whilst this could definitely be made into a layer cake, I was in the mood for something simple that could be whipped up with minimal effort and snacked on throughout the week. This is a cake that’s good with or without the icing, the cake is moist and flavourful enough without it but lovely and gooey with it so if you’re not an icing person, just leave it off.
This cake is quite salt heavy in the form of miso, as is my preference with this kind of cake, if you’ve never used miso in a cake before and you’re not sure about it, I’d recommend dropping the quantities in this recipe by 10g.
