Custard slice seems to be one of those things that people go mad for and I get it, a huge layer of vanilla custard sitting snugly between two layers of buttery puff pastry? Yes please! The original is an absolute classic but if I have the opportunity to add chocolate to something you better believe I’m gonna take it and whilst I don’t know if I can say this is better than the original, it definitely comes close.
Although I’ve used my cocoa rough puff for this recipe you could absolutely use store bought puff pastry instead to save yourself a bit of time, to cocoa flavour won’t hit quite as hard but you can always use a high percentage chocolate in the custard to make up for it.
