I have long been fascinated by the idea of ice cream cakes, they’re not really popular here in the UK, but I don’t know why, what could be better than a combination of two of the greatest sweet treats!?
I’m obsessed with dome shaped cakes at the minute but i’ve banned myself from buying any new equipment so I don’t have a dome shaped cake tin, however to make this ice cream bomb you don’t need any fancy equipment to get this fun shape, just a round bowl and a bit of patience.
This cake is super adaptable, I wanted this post to be a tutorial on how to make an ice cream bomb and of course I’ve included a recipe but really the possibilities are endless, you can easily use shop bought ice cream instead, change up the flavours of the sponge, use meringue on the outside to turn it into a baked Alaska, the possibilities are endless! I can definitely see more ice cream bombs in my future.
